That's a wrap! 🙌 Thank you so much to all of our volunteers who helped us pack hurricane preparedness kits today for local older adults. The Florida Department of Elder Affairs provided us with enough supplies to create 100 kits. They were stuffed with a number of essentials such as batteries, radios, flashlights, whistles, first aid kits and plenty more. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and made this possible!

Aging is inevitable. We can choose to age alone and isolated from friends, family, even the world. Or we can choose to age with dignity and independence with friends, family and our communities. The goal at ElderSource is to continue to serving our seniors, adults with seven county service area with such programs as the Aging and Disability Resource Center HelpLine, adults with disabilities, Veterans, the Mobile Resource Center, Elder Abuse Prevention, SNAP Nutrition Program, Transportation Services, LGBT Elders, Care Transitions Coaching, mental health services and so much more! You can help us ensure that seniors and their caregivers have support, access to care and the resources they need to live life to its fullest. We reach out to more than 12,000 people each year to people in our seven county service area including: Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Volusia counties. The programs and activities of ElderSource are funded by federal, state and local grants as well as private donations and endowments. The mission of ElderSource is to empower individuals to age with independence and dignity by providing leadership, direction, advocacy and support for a comprehensive, coordinated continuum of care. LEARN THE RED FLAGS 🚩 One form of abuse that older adults face is emotional abuse, which is sometimes called psychological abuse. This type of abuse can include a caregiver saying hurtful words, yelling, threatening, or repeatedly ignoring the older adult. Emotional abuse can also happen when the caregiver prevents the older adult from seeing close friends and relatives. Learn the signs and call 1-800-962-2873 to report and to prevent elder abuse.

The goal is to reduce some concerns facing homebound older adults such as loneliness, isolation and more.
